- facilitate the integration of science and real-world practical experience into broader conservation-related policy and practice
- increase science-policy capacity for evidence-based and informed decision making within the conservation sector, with a particular focus on existing conservation practitioners, new entrants to the wildlife economy, and students
- ensure that the research agenda is guided by and responsive to the needs of conservation, in terms of both emerging and ongoing challenging conservation issues
- develop and share a cohesive approach to conservation and sustainable use
- maximise the reach of the content by providing an online resource to archive and share presentations, discussions, and other relevant content for those that cannot attend in person
- ensure that all forms of knowledge (science, indigenous, and local knowledge) are considered for decision-making in conservation
- provide a platform for early-career conservation practitioners, researchers, and decision-makers in Africa to present and discuss issues related to conservation
